Tips for an organised desk space

Whether your desk is in the central hub of the main office, a private office, or even the study at home, the chances are, it’s not as tidy as it should be.  And this can have an extremely negative effect on your productivity. You can be “put off” from working due to the sheer volume of paperwork you have collected, or you can simply be distracted, trying to focus on too many things at once. That’s why, a tidy and organised desk is critical. And here at Cleaning North West, as Preston’s leading domestic and commercial cleaning team, we have produced these tips for an organised desk space.

Tips for an organised desk space

If you really want to stay on top of that cluttered desk, follow these four tips that can really help change your working day:

  1. Get rid of everything that isn’t necessary. Does your desk collect remnants of broken pens, last year’s secret Santa gift, and other assorted pieces of junk? If so, it’s time to have a sort out. Rid your desk of everything that isn’t helpful or necessary to your working day. You’ll find you have less distractions, and more space.
  2. Make digital notes. Does your desk collect post it notes? Writing your to-do list down on post it notes can be a good idea. And sticking them all over your desk to remind you can seem like an even better one. But when the work comes flooding in, these post it notes can begin to get overwhelming. As well as messy. So instead, make digital notes. You can either take photographs of your outstanding post its, or simply write your to do list on a widget on your smartphone. And what a difference it will make to your desk space!
  3. Keep a bin close. The simplest way to help your desk stay tidy and organised, is to keep a bin really close at hand. That way you can get rid of rubbish at the time, instead of storing it up for later.
